Our Simple Care Finder Process

Our experience and free assisted living placement service provides guidance, clarity, and peace of mind when you need it most. Steps to find the perfect care in our local community:

1

Initial Consultation

Our team is rooted in San Francisco and the Peninsula, and our initial consultations and assisted living placement services are always free. We are not a national call center; we are current and former California licensed assisted living administrators with deep knowledge of the local senior care landscape and a genuine passion for supporting older adults. We believe in meeting face-to-face whenever possible. This allows us to connect with your family, learn about your loved one’s health changes, daily routines, personal history, preferences, diet, budget, timeline, and overall family dynamics. With this understanding, we craft a personalized care plan that truly reflects your family’s needs.

2

Community Research & Matching

We personally visit every community before ever referring it. Using the insights gathered during our initial meeting with you, we carefully narrow down the options. We review each community’s standing with local and state agencies, identify the 3–5 that best align with your loved one’s needs and preferences, and then coordinate and schedule all tours on your behalf.

3

Tours & Decision Support

We accompany you on tours, help you ask important questions, advocate for you, and provide objective guidance on your options. What matters most is that you feel comfortable and confident in your decision.

4

Placement & Move-In

Once you've chosen a community, we prep you with our move-in checklist, coordinate with community to complete the LIC 602A Physician's Report, additional ease-of-transition services, and provide ongoing support through move-in.

5

Follow-Up

We conduct thoughtful post-placement check-ins at 30, 90, and 180 days to ensure your loved one’s transition is smooth and supportive. During these follow-ups, we connect with both you and your loved one to confirm their comfort, well-being, and overall satisfaction in their new community. Our relationship does not end at move-in, and we remain a steady partner to your family, ensuring your loved one continues to feel cared for and truly at home.

How much does senior living in San Francisco and the Peninsula typically cost?

The average cost for assisted living is $6,000/month in San Francisco and along the San Mateo Peninsula
The reality is that costs vary deeply by numerous factors including the specific level of care needed, location, amenities, and more. The starting rate can be $4,000 at one community and it could start at $8,000 elsewhere. Our care consultants can assist in finding quality options while working on your budget.

What's the difference between assisted living and nursing homes?

Assisted living provides help with activities of daily living aka ADL's (includingbathing, dressing, meals, laundry, medication management) in a communal or home setting, while nursing homes offer 24/7 skilled medical care for those that require ongoing skilled treatment. Assisted living is for seniors who need daily help but are generally healthy, while nursing homes are for those with complex medical needs requiring round the clock medical supervision.

How do I know which type of care is right for my loved one?

The right care type depends on your loved one's health needs, level of independence, and personal preferences. Consider factors like medical requirements, daily assistance needs, ability to transfer between sitting/standing/restroom, social preferences, and budget. Our care consultants can help assess your situation through a comprehensive evaluation and refer you to the best options based on your specific circumstances.

How long does the placement process take?

The timeline varies based on your needs and urgency. For non-emergency situations, the process takes 2-4 weeks from initial consultation to move-in. For emergency placements, we can often find solutions within 24-48 hours. Our local knowledge and relationships with communities help expedite the process significantly.

What should I look for when touring a care home or assisted living community?

Look for cleanliness, staff friendliness and attentiveness, resident engagement in activities, safety features, meal quality, and overall atmosphere. Ask about staff, training, emergency procedures, and how they handle medical emergencies. Our consultants accompany you on tours and help you ask the right questions to make an informed decision.
